Implementation and Evaluation of Self-directed Learning Activity in Biochemistry for First-Year MBBS Students

Background: Self-directed learning (SDL) is an essential teaching-learning method for transforming medical students into lifelong learners. In SDL, learners are responsible undergoing their process and gradually shifting control from teacher to themselves. However, First-year MBBS in need of receiving training support become self-directed Hence, the present study aimed evaluate outcomes adopting SDL alone as well supplementing with a lecture first-year biochemistry. Objectives: Implementation activity Biochemistry evaluation its outcome students. Methods: A Cohort was carried out investigate Department at SVIMS, Tirupati. The conducted two sessions. session one, Lecture cum implemented; whereas two, only employed. pre-and post-test performed before after completion both Pre- answer sheets were evaluated, students’ perception forms analysed. Results: There statistically significant increase scores compared pre-test scores. Moreover, there alone. Conclusions: Overall performance improved when topic taken didactic followed by session; this may have been indicative improvement module.
